When I was a kid, I saw a movie of which I have a faint memory now. I remember the name of the film still “The Last War.” I remember after a fierce war and A-bombs falling everywhere, the entire world was set ablaze and only a battle ship remained in the sea. And wherever it went, it found earth on fire. And the film ended with a marooned ship nowhere to go.
Then not many years ago, I saw Noah’s Arch, which described “The Great Flood” and Noah’s arch finally resting on the mountain top and there was a new beginning of life. And today I saw the “2012.” When the entire world was destroyed and the great tsunami came, the specially made ships braved the tsunami and those aboard survived to live another day.
I was just wandering if all three films were interlinked or had commonalities. While “The Last War” ended with an uncertain future, both other films ended with a renewed hope for life. It is only hope that keeps us optimistic about our future, otherwise the way wars are being fought over the planet, the super powers selling their arms, aircraft and munitions to the belligerents or even in some cases, they being belligerents themselves, the world has a very uncertain future.
It only remains to be seen whether it is the wrath of the Nature (like portrayed in the later films) or the man made bombs that bring an end of the humanity. Many who are concerned are keeping their fingers crossed…
