Batting first Afghanistan were 227 for 9 in stipulated 50 overs. The inning was not very dramatic except Pakistan's Shaheen Afridi bowled superbly and took four Afghan wickets. However, when it came to Pakistan to bat, things were difficult right from the onset. The very effective fielding and very good bowling, Pakistan remained checked and lost its batsmen one after the other. It was only Imam who made 73 runs.
But the match came to a dramatic end when Pakistan was struggling to win but the Afghans were not allowing them. It was 2 balls and 2 runs when Imad Wasim, a bowler, hit a four to end the game in Pakistan's favour.
Pakistan thus won the match by three wickets. Imad scored 49 and was still on the crease when the match finished. On the other end was Wahab Riaz who added valuable 15 runs. Imad has rightly been declared player of the match.
Pakistan is now included in the first four teams, with Australia, India and New Zealand above Pakistan. Pakistan now plays its crucial match against Bangladesh on 5th July.
